A self-directed project to find a creative solution to reduce the amount of waste caused by children’s toy packaging. Lego is a toy company vocally active about reducing their footprint, so finding a way to reduce this further provided an interesting starting point.
The result was a series of sets titled ‘Unpack the World’, where the packaging is dismantled and repurposed as an active piece of each kit, creating tents, campsites and climbing walls. This use of campsites is made to reflect a natural setting, in-parallel with the message of a more environmentally friendly future.
To save on resources, the instructions would be moved to one of the company’s online services, with more people having access to smart devices. The QR codes are functional.
